This toad is having a very bad day
« on: March 17, 2022, 12:17:28 »
This image was captured a couple of days ago at the same venue as the Blue Morpho butterfly I posted.  The snake had this hold on the toad's head for about 20 minutes. He couldn't swallow it, but wouldn't let go.  The toad kept trying to get loose by kicking and pushing with his legs.  Eventually a visitor was able to reach the snakes tail from a small bridge and shook the snake until it let go of the toad.  The toad hopped over to a small stream and washed off the blood. Hopefully he will do OK.

A stunning document of the ruthlessness of Mother Nature.

The toad surely had a bad day, but, apparently, he had luck in bad luck.
