Optical system and adjustment of James Webb Space Telescope
« on: February 13, 2022, 04:07:06 »
This video details the optical construction of James Webb Space Telescope and how its final fine adjustments are made.  It is surprising to realize that the telescope has an image stabilization in it!

Thank you Akira, most interesting! So it has image stabilisation to compensate for the vibes from the positional stabilizers  :o

Glad you are interested, Hans!  It is encouraging to know that even the master of the universe has shaky hands.  :)

Great link Akira.  Also the companion links are worthwhile, e.g. how Webb was placed into its orbit around L2'.

Thank you, Hugh, for the follow-up.  Indeed, it is intriguing to know about the dynamic relationship between the Webb and the L2!

Thanks for the link Akira.

Hopefully,  we are in for some treats once they complete their setup & calibration phases and we start to see what images this new setup can produce.
