The Rheinfall near Schaffhausen in Switzerland, I believe it is about a quarter of the size of the Niagara Falls.

From that perspective Romanticism is destroyed by an industrial
backdrop. Depending on what you want to achieve this Realism
can be part of the Enlightenment of mankind.

We photo enthusiasts tend to show Reality in most pleasing colors

Was there once on a bicycle tour. Great place to cycle that upper part of the Rhine. The path changes from Suisse to Germany and back every few minutes and in the End opens to Lake Constance

Capacity of flow in winter   approx. 250'000 litres per second

Frank was right on the crop and intent. I find the first very interesting and it took me a minute to comprehend the size of the falls. It is a big sucker ... I didn't immediately recognize the people as people in the first image ... and when I did recognize the people as little tiny people, I thought "Wow, that's a lot of water." The buildings in the back really throws off one's perspective.

MikeG. Such is reality that if you had shown the crop first, the impact of the extended version would have been much bigger

I wonder how that tiny excursion boat could manage to get so close to this huge fall!

Akira, there were four boats coloured red, yellow, blue and green and they all put the bow of the boat into the fall and spray!

Very interesting picture.

The first version shows the reality : a breathtaking landscape spoiled by industrial estate. :(

When this factory was built, (almost) nobody was concerned about natural heritage.

Hopefully, the things have changed in the right way. :)

Nowadays, a motorway project can be changed to save an endangered flower specie or animal biotope, even a tiny archaeological  site.

The truncated version it's less interesting, IMHO.

I didn't know this location either.

Such a shame about the factory, so here is another view where the factory is not so dominant!
