Gran Canaria

Friday I'm going on a holiday to Tenerife to join my wife who's now at work on Fuerteventura. The Canary Islands are a long time favourite of us.
I guess everybody is aware of the dramatic volcanic eruption on beautiful La Palma. Such a disaster for all living there. We can only hope for the best for them.

As I'm alone at home now I have surplus time to browse through old images of our visits to the Canary Islands.
Sometimes I discover an image which I previously neglected but on second thought seems worthwhile to process and present.

Like this image, shot on Gran Canaria in 2013. Notice the three birds of prey in the sky.  Camera D700, lens 28mm f2.8 AIs.

They look like swifts to me (Apus melba, aka Tachymarptis melba). Naturally I could be wrong...

And still they would prey heavily on insects, so they are birds of prey anyway!
