well, havent dismantled it yet since the workshop has to be cleaned and its too damn cold
the AF works, doesnt squeak but VERY slow. it travels with the velocity of dripping molasses.
i wonder if I could just polish the stator as what a legendary Nikon repairman told me...it's worth a try. I hope it's just some wires touching the body causing a short.
