UV Nikkor 105mm - Rudbeckia hirta

Guess I found the culprit, I measured 2.1mm for the original Nikon mounting ring and another well fitting one with Nikon AI mount, BUT 2.2mm for the one of the wobbly COASTAL lens. It is that groove that runs around the mound where those lugs are, with a little overlap. THAT easily explains why it wobbles! 0.1mm is quite a bit. Guess this is why some people with similar problems widened the adapter lugs for a tighter fit!!



Tested my Novoflex and all other adapters, there is indeed not enough tension for those built in springs to produce enough pressure for a tight fit to 2.2mm. The tighter original mount however with 2.1mm fits perfectly.

I got me a NOVOFLEX adapter (dedicated to that Coastal Optics lens) and pinched the internal springs wider, now it shows a nice tight fit - problem solved!

Shot using said UV-Nikkor 105mm quartz-fluorite lens at f11, using a modified Xenon flash and proprietary filters.
