80 Years of fair Shooting
« on: July 22, 2016, 21:18:10 »
A special moment today. The 96 year old Ria van Dijk shot her 80th photo-picture at the fair in Tilburg since 1936.  Because of this special moment an exposition was opened after her 80th shot in 2016.

Also a book was republished "In almost every picture #7 continues with the story of a Dutch woman whose life is seen from the point of view of a fairground shooting gallery.

The chronological series begins in 1936, when a 16 year old girl from Tilburg in Holland picks up a gun and shoots at the target in a shooting gallery. Every time she hits the target, it triggers the shutter of a camera and a portrait of the girl in firing pose is taken and given as a prize. And so a lifelong love affair with the shooting gallery begins. This series documents almost every year of the woman's life (there is a conspicuous pause from 1939 to 1945) up until present times." http://www.kesselskramerpublishing.com/catalogue/inalmosteverypicture7/

Your Welcome.  It's interesting to see a 96 year old lady is still in action on the fair to shoot 'photo's' after all those years ;)

This was in 1969

An interesting story, long in the making. Of course, firing a gun during the 1939-45 period often meant someone would fire back.
