Thank you for this guide. I have a 50/1.4 AIS that's been quick cleaned twice by a friend twice and is in need of a complete strip and relube. I think someone baked the lens in the trunk of a car and destroyed the original grease.

You may want to check the type of grease used. it has a tendency to gunk-up so it might not be suited for lens helicoids.

some shops here cut corners and use grease that is meant for other stuff that is unsuitable for lenses.
some grease types that I know that works for lenses are red bike grease and the one used for fishing reels.

some of the shops use these but the best one is what Nikon itself uses - NPC grease (nippon petrochem).
