Panda Zf
« on: September 04, 2025, 15:53:44 »
It "had" to happen -- Nikon has released a Panda version of the Zf :)

I swapped my Panda Z fc for  an all black model and as far as I'm concerned, the camera now looks much nicer. Thus I'm in no hurry to do anything about my black Zf...

However, opions might differ, thus let anyone enamoured by the Pandas pipe up.

For the film FM2 I preferred the panda version. On digital cameras I'm not sure... I'm convincing myself not to be tempted  ;D

The chrome finish on the Z fc cameras look and feel quite rough and almost "cheap" in their presentation and touch.

On the other hand the chrome finish on my FM2 in particular, and even the less well finished FM3a, is much smoother, nicely tactile and quite refined in its presentation (read "desirable").

Don't have a Z f as yet - so I at least can wait until I have both types in my hand before unzipping my wallet.  ;D

The  black Z fc and Zf have a silky satin finish. I briefly had the Panda Z fc and agree with your description of how it felt to the eye.

I prefer my black Zf. I wouldn't necessarily object to one of the other colors but the silver top / black lower part styling is not among my favorites.

I'm nonetheless excited to see Nikon find the Zf popular enough to warrant making different versions of it. Maybe even a II model eventually with ... let's say, a remote release port.
