Nikon's getting a bit too smart.
Of the superior image quality S-line lenses, they are offering the somewhat affordable F1.8 lenses (mostly anyway, that 135 is not affordable) and F1.2 which gives both great image quality and a fast aperture.
Then the F1.4 lenses which lie in between are also affordable, for those who want a fast aperture but would rather not pay heaps for it. They are doing portraits/low light work that does not necessarily benefit (or even need) from insane resolution performance.
Want both, you pay top dollar for F1.2. Want image quality or fast aperture, you can get that too for similar prices.
This means they will be offering an F1.2 35mm as well.
Nice strategy.
