Flowers under harsh lightings

Shot with D750 and Ai 200/4.0.  Apparently the lens is prone to flare.  The post-processing for these images were tricky.

I use CC2017.  The first image looked quite hazy possibly caused by the internal flare of the lens.  So, I used the "dehaze" slider in ACR in addition to the usual ones.

The flowers in the second image were very dark in the original RAW, and I needed to raise the shadow slider quite a bit.  I think I should have used the Active D-light function in the camera.

I like the colors and the cloudy sky, def. more sense of depth.

A bit more exposure compensation for the flowers might have helped with the luminosity balance between them and sky.

The dehaze filter is an interesting one.  I play with it occ. Sometimes works a treat, other times, not so much.

Indeed a bit more brightning of the flowers might have helped.  But I feared if the image looks more like HDR which is not really my taste...

I agree that the dehaze slider is sometimes more functional than its name indicates.  It is also handy when I want to reduce the smoke of the firework shots.
