IMO, the second one is a marvel. There is the tension knowing how brief the moment is, and that it will disappear in a splash. Thanks for the chance to examine that moment. This list is some of the things I enjoyed about it.
Water near the exit splash is still sinking into space left by the whale.
Spiral runoff and light reflecting across the ventral grooves shows contour, texture and motion.
Far ventral fin (right) is shown in profile with trailing stream of water, but near one (left) is almost edge on with a nice curve. Water between fins is like inverted icicles.
Eye has a highlight is and almost exactly at horizon level, so perspective is eye to eye.
Tubercules clearly profiled along edge of head and jaw, and spray has become thinner and more distant showing speed of head.
