Happy New Year from ' Fred the Head ' and myself  8)

Fred was the  part of a ventriloquist dummy I was asked to photography 45 years ago, the owner never asked for his return so Fred has become a a good conversation starter with visitors to  my house !

Thanks for the comments Bjørn, Jakov and Børge.

Jakov, is that a shaved 10.5mm responsible for the "crystal ball"? (I have always thought its rendering is somewhat crystal ball like, even on Dx).

You are spot on. It is a shaved 10.5 on a D750.
It has become my favourite fish-eye. The 8mm circular Sigma and the Nikkor 16/3.5 fish-eyes aren't in use that much any longer. Thanks to Erik who performed a clean shave  :)
I always liked using the Sigma on DX, now I have the 10.5 for FX with a similar effect. I prefer circular fish-eyes but I am not looking for a full circle. I like to cover the frame more, and I have noticed that the top and bottom part of a circular image are more often than not - not needed.

Øivind, Happy New Year!  Nice images with the smoke well managed or avoided for the clean rendition of the fireworks.

John, Happy New Year!  Nice contrast between the sharp and blurred point light sources.

Jack, Happy New Year!  It is fascinating to know that Fred is still going strong and has become Nikon enthusiast over the years.
