Here is a quick and dirty edit from your NEF file

Started the edit in Lightroom where I cropped out the disturbing bits, applied a preset which I developed for my girlfriends D800. The priority of the preset was to bring out the skies in brilliant colors without losing color information in any of the other colors.

Next I adjusted brightness a bit and moved from Lightroom to Color Efex Pro where I added a detail extractor, pro contrast and brilliance/warmth after which I moved back to Lightroom.

In Lightroom I recovered highlights a little, then moved the file over to Photoshop.
In Photoshop I split the original file in a B&W version in which I developed for a contrasty B&W image, and a color version.

I applied the B&W version as a layer over the original file and applied it as luminosity layer at 55%

In the color version I focused on dodge&burn to bring up some more detail from th emountain range, then made another pass of dodge&burn with somewhat more intensity to really bring out the reflections in the water.

Back in Lightroom I decided that I once more needed to bring back some highlight details and finish things up. Exported as JPG and uploaded to Flickr

Here is a 10' edit of the wine cellar picture.  What to say ? First the composition: I had a lot of difficulties to extract something appealing: I left out the left side and did a recomposition in 4x5.  ISO 8'000 is definitely too much for a D800; I reduced the grain / noise to an extent not to render the whole picture too like "molten plastic".  The mix of different light sources is also a problem: the original NEF was too green; I opted to take a grey reference on the steel band of the front cask. I gave the whole tone curb a mild "S" turn.  Lack of DOF and the focus somewhere on the middle cask is another problem.

The landscape one, is more obvious, with the exception of a few dust particles in the sky, and some dehazing. I've put sufficient detail in the (dark) mountains, but not to the point to transform the picture into a HDR one.

You tell me  :)

I thank you all for your efforts. It is great to "see" through your eyes - as we all process differently - due to skills and of course due to what we see.

Armando's images appealed the most to me and my style - therefor that is my choice for this contest.

Well done Armando - the floor is yours for the next image :)

I,ve got the bug, DxO and CS6 High Pass Filter set to 2.9 on two duplicates and merged to original.
I hoped to retrieve the detail from the rocks in the back ground.
