Never heard of such things as Newts
are you able to catch and handle those things?

I am quite happy to look at these wonderful pics but I would not want to dive into taking such pics ... water and slime and animals exsiting for eons before human life started on this planet ... makes me feel uneasy ...

No catching required in my case, the newts live free in my pond. Besides they're delicate and protected animals.

No diving required either. The pond is about 30 cm deep at most. Only my hands had to get wet. It is surrounded by decking so I can lie comfortably on it while shooting.
