This made me smile. Great take.
Obviously they are acting in pairs: two guarding back (photographer, you are observed!), two cleaning themselves, 2 are swnowbathing, and 2 are ahead pioniering in front...
The washed out whites suit the scene, thus there are no details distracting from the Gentoos.

Thomas, BW, Jakov, Armando, Gary, thank you for your comments.

It was an overcast day, so I decided to try something different.  I overexposed to reduce background detail (I knew the black of the birds would be OK) and lightened it still further with Levels. 

The penguins do seem to cooperate, although I doubt if they were breeding pairs.  Typically one stays on the nest while the other goes fishing.  Failure to protect the nest tends to result in the sort of dispute in my previous series.
