Viv, I heartily recommend a Rhein cruise my late wife and I did at least six and since I've been a widower I've done three and all being well I'm booked on a Mosel cruise next July. I've yet to go on a bad one usually there is a very good crowd of people all very friendly and chummy. Suits the older person better than teens or children who will usually be bored out of their skulls!

I think the closest I come is Trier!

This year I tried to meet up with Chris Wahl in Heidelburg but at the last minute the ship altered the timing of the stop off in Mannheim So I was late and Chris sadly was unable to rearrange his day again.

I've only been to Luxembourg once, to the city and Vianden!
