I want to thank everyone for their encouragement about the book project.  It is currently in the planning and editing phase as I prepare everything.  My goal is to have it ready for press  sometime late this year.  It may spill over into early next year, but I am certainly moving forward with it.  Thanks.

Very, very early in my career, I was fired as a sports photographer.  I was hired to shoot high school football, which is next to God here in Texas.  I kept coming back with a lot of shots of people in the stands, which I found infinitely more interesting than the action on the field.  My editor called me the worst sports photographer he had ever seen and fired me.  He was right....

Rick, I'm not sure if I could laugh at the story, but am pretty sure that the eposode well characterizes your personality as photographer, which you have proved every time you post images here or there.

This image seems to be a bit different from your usual snapshots, there is no people.  Would it be a part of your project you were talking about some time ago?

By the way, what does the "BURY" sign exactly mean here?  Of course, I know the meaning of "bury" itself, but I'm curious about the sign.

There is a Bury engineering/architectural group in Texas. I suspect the sign and fence belongs to them and the flat foreground may be the source for a new development/structure.

Yes, Gary is right about the sign.  I happened to be walking on the other side of the street under a freeway when I spotted the sign.  I thought it was so weird that it was in front of the Dallas County jail.  I crossed the street to get the shot.  I am assuming that some sort of office building will be going up on the site behind the sign.

Rick, thanks for the details of the shooting info.  I though the buildings seen behind the sign were the jailhouses, hence my question.  I like the somewhat strange atmosphere of the image.
