Well, there is no way we can get 1 Euro from 2700 more or less sporadic visitors. Forget the idea.

Why not ask them? Many of them are active here like supporters and pay nothing. That is unbalanced.

Most 'visits' are from Brazil, US, Vietnam, and India. Nearly 98% of these accesses last < 30 secs. So much for  their interest in "photography".

Do you think that they are not from US, Brazil, Viethan , India? No real visits?

I see the NGF international and the photography is the connection and the language.

Trust me, the high number of visits doesn't necessarily reflect any true interest in what NG has to offer.  That is, except as a web site to hack or abuse. The server logs tell me a story of bad visitors trying to use known vulnerabilities to gain access to the site for nefarious purposes, such as converting NG into a mass e-mail spammer. We have deliberately cut down on software modules to reduce the attack surface.

Members come and go. Their attention will wax and wane. As long as we keep a core of supporters tallying around 100 we wil be able to keep the site up and running. The main issue is that few if any person wants to dedicate the required time and resources to do the behind-the-curtains work. I'm getting tired myself and likely will ponder how long I'm willing to do this unpaid work. I'll reach a decision by mid '26.

Then NGF will get a "private" club of 89 members, old insiders, permanent residents, a table for reserved, without new members, non-supporters will get a bad conscience.
I am thinking about a fairer system that is payable vor all.

I'm listening. However, don't put the 1 Euro back again.

Let there be no doubt that the massive number of visitors the last days, and peaking today, is malicious traffic. It has nothing to do with "interest for photography" at all.

I'll take NG off-line if the problem worsens.

NG is under attack.

There is a hostile take-over attempt ongoing.

Expect disturbances ahead.

Thank you for all the work you do to keep this place running.

I would offer to help but, unless the server would respond to a judicious whack with a hammer, I am probably not your man.

The hammer approach might be the end solution (?)

Then we must wait for other suggestions and ideas.

I do not think there are better ideas now?

Maybe open up another layer of membership for those that wish to pay more than the standard NG membership?

A lower cost associate class of membership is a possibility I guess, but way down at Euro 1.00 doesn't make sense to me either.

At the moment 88 pay 20, 2400 pay nothing, that is not equal.

My idea is that Nikon, Hasselbad, Canon, Sony etc. pay together the 2500€ because the members here help them to sell their products.
