Title: Utrecht on a beautiful winter day
Post by: Luc on February 09, 2020, 00:27:25
Yesterday I walked along the Oude Gracht in Utrecht. I noticed the stark contrast between the blue skies, the sunlit buildings and the leafless trees.

Contrast and colours are great and very sharp, Luc.

Too sharp perhaps, or not?

I start counting the bricks
the leave less trees and the contrast make it look very cold, I like them

Mike, yes it was cold (but I find everything beneath 10 Celcius cold).
John, sharp is my usual shooting and processing and the new Z-lenses also accentuate that.
Bent, thanks that was what I was looking for.
Thomas, the inclusion of the trees in the composition was the most challenging part of these images.
Jakov, hehe I like nice architecture a lot. I have to make a picture book with my architecture images, I have plenty of them.

Really qualitative images !

Sharpness comes in mind first.

Nice colours too.

I try to resist, but eventually I might  get this zoom... :P ::)

Too sharp? Would you elaborate on that?

It was a question.

It was a question.

Let me rephrase, how does an image qualify as too sharp?

Visible artifacts. f.i. Edges in branches of trees. It is not always the sharpness in the original image, resizing can also cause these effects.

And it is also a matter of perception.

Blue skies in January in the Netherlands! That is unique especially this year. Well captured!

In my memory the only day in January with blue skies! Normally I would say I wish I was on the sunny Canary Islands but they've got their own share of trouble these last few days. Thanks Peter.

Crisp and clear, that's me :D ;) But you're right, it took me some time and editing sessions to more or less master Capture One but I feel I'm on the right track. And John will be glad to read I've turned down the sharpening a bit in my user style. Thanks Erik.
