Lovely rendering how does it handle?
Thanks.
Smooth. Easy to focus, but focus ring turns counter clockwise to infinity.
Long focus throw, around 300, for precise focusing. Damped. Built-in Sunhood.
Close focus is 1.20m which is very good, bokeh nice
Weight and length are more or less identical as the Nikkor Ai-S 180/2.8 ED which is pretty compact for a fast 200mm.
Six lens elements and eight aperture blades makes it an uncommon lens.

Lovely lens very sharp
Thanks. Yes to my surprise. There are not many good reviews of this particular lens. Works great on the Z6, fast AF too. In size a bit smaller than the 300 AF-S
Looking on Roland Vink's site, only 61500 copies were made of this lens, which is very low, compared to the other Professional Tele Zooms.
-
I always wanted that lens for shooting shows, have to make do with the 80-200 2.8 ed (double ring) it have served me well and it works in IR too but always considered yours better .
A street light, a cloud, a tree.

Yes, the Z6 is a very versatile camera, with many bonus features. Manual focus with older lenses is just one thing ;)
As for the 80-200 I also have the double ring, as it is pretty compact, but didn't realize the AF-S is so much better. Main reason was to have a AF telezoom for the Z.

Wasn't that because it was eclipsed by the 70-200 f/2.8 not that long after being introduced?

Wasn't that because it was eclipsed by the 70-200 f/2.8 not that long after being introduced?
Yes. Probably because it included the VR.
Another reason is that the 80-200/2.8 AF-D double ring was still available (and cheaper) at that time. It is still in production now.

Confused morning visitor
I was at my desk when the cleaner started yelling for me. I went to find out what the problem was and she was outside pointing at something. still wearing my reading glasses I could see it was a fair sized snake but not what kind. So I rushed back in and grabbed the D500, 70-200 f4 vr which was on my desk. The hole is not an escape hatch but just a 5 metre hole for Earthing the house. Because of posting rules I posted B&W of my first view. Just a quick snap. The Rat snake was probably very disappointed that it did not find an escape.

Colin, one snake and that is correct. It is going down the hole (as snakes tend to do) and finding it lead to nowhere it is coming back out. When I tried to get a better/closer position in really moved fast.

Looking East late in the day as a storm moves to the southeast. Taken with a 35S and Z7. Good combo! Having recently bought a set of the complete Rembrandt Paintings, Etchings and Drawings, I find it affects the way I look at things. What would Rembrandt have done with a digital camera looking at this November scene? Such tantalizing thoughts! (By the way, it's the cocktail hour here in the Nutmeg state.)

The reproductions of Rembrandt: Did you buy them in a box? How good are the colors reproduced? can you see the the print matrix or are these pigmented ink prints? Are you happy with them?
-
Hi Frank,
Taschen this year released a set of two volumes of Rembrandt, one of his complete paintings, the other of his complete engravings and drawings in what the publishers term their XXL size (approximately 12 by16 inches each). Some of the works are on matte paper, others smooth. I also own Bosch, Bruegel, Caravaggio, Velazquez, Vermeer, da Vinci and Michelangelo in the same series. Of course reproduction color quality can only really be judged by comparing them directly to the works themselves but I am impressed by this series, especially the Rembrandts. Since I can't afford to buy the paintings themselves, I have ordered custom prints directly from the museums that own the individual works of art that I particularly favor to eventually frame in my home. For instance, I have from the Prado, Bosch's Seven Deadly Sins (La Mesa) and have on order a few more of other artists from other museums (including two Rembrandts although I couldn't get Abraham's Sacrifice from the Hermitage because it is currently "out of stock", whatever that means). The whole process is very satisfying. As I was spending a couple of days with Velazquez recently, I began to notice the similarities with certain poses and expressions of people I come across in my everyday life. In my dotage, I imagine I will be looking at these books frequently and with great pleasure. There may be better printed collections but these satisfy my tastes. Also, after a certain point, the books could become unwieldy and I would need a Sherpa to help me get them off the shelf and set them up for viewing. :P

During my recuperation of the recent pneumonia incident, the local café has become an important peaceful haven. They serve the best coffee and waffles I have encountered anywhere, inside or outside my country.
This snapshot is taken with the ancient 3.5cm f/1.8 W-Nikkor on the monochrome NEX-5N that Vivek kindly gave me at the NG meet-up in The Hague some weeks ago. Processed in Photo Ninja run under Linux, just to show the versatility one now can enjoy these days.
It's snowing outside and most tempting to prolong my stay at the cosy café.

-
Lovely. How is image quality? Low Iso?
]
Thank you, John. Basically, the image quality is excellent. It uses a BSI 24MP bayer sensor, and its high-ISO/low-light performance is great. This one was shot at ISO 3200.
The jello effect when shooting fast moving objects like cars or trains is HUGE, which I have well counted in when I purchased the camera. Also, the camera dosen't have an AA filter even though it is 24MP which is rather low-res for a full-frame sensor. The moire can be a problem, which I have well counted in as well.
Sorry about your Coolpix A. If I remember correctly, its 16MP (low-res for an APS-C sensor) also lacks an AA filter.
