...as in: I am going though old files and redid this photograph a little.
-
WOW!
-
Continue revisiting those files, Sten :D
-
Very powerful shot! I really like the post processing
-
Glad you find them viewworthy ;D
Here's another. Here're two more.
-
Reflected aurora,,, very frisky PP'ing again but I like it
-
WOW and WOW
Keep on revisiting!
-
super - hope you find many more of these pictures, still no 1 is my fav
-
What a great iceberg, and beautifully processed. Please post more from this trip.
-
Beautiful 👍
-
I would LOVE to go photograph Greenland - so I am excited by seeing your images. Thanks for sharing
-
Beautiful shots Sten. Just looking at them gives me shiver.
-
Beautiful! They are all really nice but the first one really stands out with its processing that enhances the structure of the ice berg.
#2 could need a very large version wall print.
-
Triple WOW for that first one.
The processing is beautiful!
-
Indeed, very impressive ! Especially that Iceberg.
-
I could not enter enough Wows to express my appreciation of the images.
For the first image, i'd like even more noise in sky above the iceberg, i like the grittiness.
For the reflected aurora, which is a great image, perhaps you could make it more abstract by cropping out the left top corner, focusing more on the aurora reflection and the immediate background.
And like Elsa, i'd really like to go to Greenland once. It appears we have found our Mr. Tour guide ;D
-
The first one is indeed stunning. You captured the unique feature of it really well. The second on is simply awesome!
I wonder if the iceberg seen at the top left corner of the second image is the very same iceberg in the first one.

Not the same lump of ice Akira. They were some hundred kilometres apart.

Thanks, Sten, for the confirmation. The shapes of their peaks looked similar. :o
-
Triple applause for the iceberg. It looks like the iceberg prototype of all times.
The ship window is attractive as well.
-
Mmmmmm . . . gimme more!! #1and #3 are excellent; #2 is wonderful.
-
#1 is superb
-
The iceberg is such a beauty! It immediately touched me!
I also like the window pic, I feel you take me on a ride with you, which I really enjoy.
-
Very striking photos! #2 looks like a long exposure, yet also like an oblique aerial view. Were you on a mountain across the fjord? Magical to have the water so calm. What time of year were you there? Please post more! Cheers, John
-
The iceberg picture is marvelous, Sten :)
-
Thanks all for the positive reception :)
A little more info:
These images were made during a geological excursion in 2011 - led by the danish institute GEUS. Very professional people!
Needless to say we all had a blast. We encountered both musk ox, polar bear, hare, flying things, sail boat, and what have you. It is truly a magical part of the globe and the shear scale of things is breathtaking.
The images are all captured with a D3 and basically three lenses, the venerable 16/3.5 fisheye, the temperamental Ai-S 35/1.4 and the somewhat underdog one - 70-300/4.5-5.6 VR. The second and thirds pics were captured from our plane en route to our destination. More pictures to come.
-
Three more...
-
Sten,
those are very beautiful shots, especially that first one.
Thanks for sharing.
-
Again, brilliant photos. Particularly like the second of these. But I know the atmospherics you've captured in the first and third and like those also. Great to see not-blue-sky photos of the polar world!
John (also a geologist)
-
Very happy to see you are presenting new images from that journey ! Wonderful PP framing and all!
-
#26.1 ... love the apocalyptic feel ... red in the ice ... fascinating!!!
-
That iceberg is soo massive and beautiful. Really nice!
-
A couple more...
-
A shot from quite a distance.
-
I like it at quite a distance,,,
-
Your blue icebergs are spectacular!
-
The two icebergs in post #32 are superb!!!
-
All the images are very nice. The first picture of the iceberg is particularly mesmerizing. To me, the ripples below introduced a scale to comprehend the sheer size of the ice berg and added to be effect. Pretty awesome!

-
another trio of pics...
-
Getting towards the end now...
-
Sten is like Sean Penn in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty :)
-
For a polar geek like me, all of them are ofcourse wonderful pictures, but the last one really stands out. How far north were you?

We were on and around Traill Ø which means 72-73˚N.

I was on a trip with a small cruice ship the same year. Through Kong Oscar Fjord, north to Blomsterbugten on Ymers Ø.
This is Kongeborgen on Traill Ø
