Thank you, John. In any communities in Japan, younger people tend to be reluctant to participate in this kind of traditional local events. So, it was nice to see people in all generations gathering there.
Your combo makes perfect sense. Nikon (or any manufacturers of full-frame mirrorless cameras) needs to make lenses that don't protrude!

A lot of possibilities with the pancake sized lenses, also the petit version of the 50/1.8 and the 28/2.8 E-series. Making a light version, especially because the Z6 is pretty light.
But also the 17-35/2.8 does balance nicely no the Z6, to my positive surprise.

Yes, like it a lot. The IBIS works great (and natural) that in combination with high ISO gives a lot of new possibilities with other lenses in low light situations. Also lots of new focus possibilities. So, what is not too like ;D

Nice Graphics.
How did you manage that? Which Sony reader you have?
-
Sony MRWE90 XQD/SD Card USB 3.0 Reader
i took it with me on holidays all i can think i may have become damaged in the bag
the cards get stuck inside the reader and dont pop out
so i had to pry it out where one card plastic frame got damaged
still usable but best left in the cam i think
these 64gh xqd cards are pricey
-
Thanks for the warning, Fons. Indeed, these cards are too expensive.
I was under the impression the XQD system was more robust than the SD cards (I never had a failure). Apparantly it's not... Or is it just the writer which can be vulnerable?
-
It's not easy to focus the 35/1.4 in the wide open position. It's hard to determine the exact point were the focus is. A better focus-screen does hardly help. Shoot and check the image afterwards was regularly necessary.
How different the situation with the Nikon Z6 were the zoom in the viewfinder is a big help.

Something that I actually hadn't seen before, a duckweed (Lemna turionifera) with fruit. During the last couple of years I have examined thousands of those tiny duckweed fronds. Typically the entire floating frond is 1.5-3mm, and 5-6 times I observed and photographed flowering plants. Of course these species have the most efficient vegetative propagation imaginable, yet genetic recombination through sexual means might become useful in a changeable climate.
Shot with Z7 and the Laowa 25mm f/2.8 Ultra-Macro lens at 5X magnification, some 20 frames stacked with Zerene. The frond is approx. 1.7mm on the major axis, to indicate what scale we are at.

Very impressive, I wonder why it is called Red Duckweed in Danish? Is it because of the red tint on the fruit? The leaves are green, right?
-
The fronds can be suffused with red in the autumn. However, other duckweeds can attain the same colours, so I don't think the Danish name is very apt.
A duckweed is morphologically highly reduced and specialised thus there do not exist leaves in the ordinary sense.

The Zeiss lenses are hard to focus on a Nikon camera, especially because the 'green dot' does not work 100% for the Zeiss lenses.
It is a relief to zoom in on the Z6 and get it all in focus, and that combined with a black cat in a dark environment ;)

very beautiful Photos, Fons and Birna. Lovely and interesting.

Birna's studio is getting pretty chaotic in the duckweed "season". Here is a make-shift setup for shooting duckweed flowers in UV. I reached 4.4X magnification using the UV-Nikkor 105mm f/4.5 combined with a reverse-mounted Noflexar 35mm f/3.5, which had to suffice.

Ok i havent been using the 17-35 that much lately, its handling shows its age not so much the iq on the d850.
Some issues i have with mine the focussing is unsure at short range have to override a lot.
The Distance chip is not functioning shows all distances at 19mm when narrower than 17mm,
also there is quite a bit of falloff.

A couple of days ago I was to the roof top concert, I also had my Nikon F with 3200 TMax film loaded, yesterday I developed the film.

I know that this film has it with grain, and in todays digital world with no noise, this is out of this world :o
But it is remarkable that the film actually managed it in spite of the long storage, the box was marked 12/2005, I still have one left ;)

This reminds me that you have two languages: « Norge » in bokmål and « Noreg » in nynorsk. Am I correct ?
-
That's correct. The two languages are both official. 'Noreg' is actually closer to English 'Norway'. I'm speaking Norwegian (bokmål) myself. My mother tongue is Swedish, however.

John, when in darker places, my Z6 gives a lighter image than is going to be recorded. At night -or stage- I usually end up lifting the raw by up to one stop, sometimes more. Do you have a similar experience.
The back sreen is more accurate in this regard for me so far.

You mean the view-finder Paco? Yes, sometimes it is flooded with light in the dark, especially if you focus to 100% :) I have the same experience. Also when you come from the light in the dark, the viewfinder will be much too bright. Also when you switch on the camera in the dark. It is a matter of fine-tuning, haven't find a system yet.
In the dark is working via the back screen no problem of course, especially because the swith between EVF and Backscreen on the Z6 is very smooth.
-
Same here. I have tried to fine tune the brightness in the evf with no success. I´m getting use to it by now.

There might be a variation from lens to lens. Mine was mushy on higher resolution cameras, while the 1.8/50G was spot on detail rendering even wide open. Maybe Nikon service could have solved my mushy problem?

Thank you, Carl. Your words somewhat resonate with my intention.

Thank you all, I rally appreciate your compliments.
Same day, somewhat later. Olga said "it´s very you" so at least, for her, this image is representative of how I shoot :)

Paco, #319 is splendid! Tone and color is pleasant. I very much like #329's elements, would love to see it in BW.
Akira, #326 is a pleasant image, but the PP/downsizing makes it look oof. I am guessing it is not actually?
Armando, #332, gorgeous color!
Fond, #336, I love the composition and selection of focus/depth. All tied in well.

Tristin, I would have never tried it as I like the color contrast. The b&w version missed that but gains in graphic power. Thanks for the option.
