#1 is one of the best Zebra shots I've ever seen. One of those where I could bite my ass for not having done something similar when I had the chance.

#6 is not just an outstanding shot but also a strong political statement.
Wish I would be able to say so much with a single image.

cheers

The zebra is fantastic, and I also like the lion - looks like a wise old man.

Numbers 1, 5 and 6 for me. No. 1 is wonderfully aesthetic, no 5 has so much expression, and no 6 conveys all the tragedy of the captured animal. To me, at least.

The Zebra is absolutely great, and the Lion.  Looks like a mugshot after his arrest.

Really dig the shots of the Grévy's zebra and the Orangutan, very well spotted and captured with the latter showing your PJ skills of telling a story with a single image.

The colour images look a bit over cooked for my taste however, I'm a big sucker for spot metering animal portraits when they stand in front of a shadowy background but somehow the processing of the exposed area's looks a bit overdone and unnatural.

The lion was behind bars.

Thank you on all counts. I am a contrast freak, so I tend to be a little heavy on that slider. These are a few years old, so maybe a combo of low on the processing learning curve and an older monitor may contribute to the overcooking. I've never been any good on the tech need of photography. What I lack in technical expertise I tried to make-up with enthusiasm.

So for you Jan Anne, (your names rhyme), I'll stick with B&W's.  ;)

LOL ... I was just one of the many paparazzi that your body guards like to beat up. And yes, next time you're in California let's hook up.

The expressions of the monkeys are unbelievable, marvelous shots!
They are so much human, distant, and sad...

Amigo, there are no monkey shots in this topic :P

Like us humans the orangutans, chimps and gorillas are all great apes ;D

Common mistake btw in the NL because we call both "aap", though great apes are officially referred to as "mens aap" nobody seems to know or care to do so.

Wow Gary! I like them all but #1 is simply stunning. One thing I noticed in all the images you posted first is sadness. They all seem to display various degrees of sadness. I also LOL'ed when I saw your monkey business pictures :D

Do you know that Hippos are the most dangerous wildlife for humans, killing more people than and other species out there?

Esp. they are very specific when it comes to caring for their offspring!

Yes I knew that. They are not the cute, dancing characters portrayed in Disney movies ... hence the darker foreboding image I posted.

Unlike Chimps which are the same both on-screen and off.
