We, Gunver and I just arrived at Nyati game reserve near Kruger Park.
The first animal to greet us was a group off elefants, we are looking forward to the weeks stay here.
-
Bent and Gunver, enjoy!
-
Enjoy your stay Bent, hope you get the big five and some more.

Nice one, Bent 🙂👍.
Looking forward seeing more pictures 😀.

Thanks for the good wishes.
Today on our way back in darkness our driver went around to find a leopard with an impala, and he did :)
The high ISO of the D500 came handy in this occasion, and together with Erik’s old 300 f4PF, and some flash lights, I got some pictures. Did try with my D800, but not with good results.
The picture has only been loaded into LR on my iPad. Working with the WD wireless HD, no laptop ;)
D500 300mm f4 @f4 ISO 12400 1/100 sec

During the day we had a more peaceful encounter with this Water buck grassing at the river by our lodge.
D500 300 mm PF with 1.4 extender the II version @f5.6

Great series ! So, the iPad and WD Passport seems to work ? ;)
-
Looks very good, Nice captures already ;) Enjoy!

Yes quite well, thanks for the tip ;)
-
Great trip! Enjoy!

Also today the exiting part was well after sundown. So when we found the lions there was only torchlight to lit them.
D500 ISO 32000, slight adjustment in LR. The 300mm with 1.4 extension.
Colours are a bit like infrared :o
Changed the picture added clarity as suggested by Erik.
-
Looks like a lot of fun, Bent! Am lookng forward to seeing more!
-
Wow Bent, enjoy and please, keep on posting!
-
On our early morning game drive we saw zebras passing the road.
-
Very nice Lion, I guess the light from the torch is giving the colorless look, just adds tension, nie ;)
Truly a fantastic Zebra crossing 8) ;D
Both I would add clarity to bring out the details.
-
Yesterday we visited Lulekane to learn about African culture and customs.
On our way back we had one of the waiters with us in bus, she had a vey nice dress, so I asked for fashion photo at the lodge :)

Will try to change the PP if possible on the iPad.

Yesterday morning from our porch.
I am not expert in getting the colours right on sun.
We have a fantastic view over the Olifant river.
-
Did an update on the lion as suggested by Erik
-
Wow, looks like truly a Golden Sun dripping into the riverbed, very nice!
Yes better with the Lion, I guess it's difficult on an Ipad to judge,,,

Very nice dress. And very African as well. The colours might not fit me, but my girl friend would be adorable.

Morning at the waterhole.
-
It is the dry season, as you can see on the pictures. But just in front of our porch we have this green an yellow tree.
I am sure some of you will know which spicie it is.
-
This what we got to see of the hippocampus during daylight.
There was one grassing in front of the lodge at dinner time, could see it with the help of a floodlight.
-
The flowering tree is from the Mimosa subfamily of the Fabaceae (Pea Family). Possibly an Acacia, of which there are hundreds of species.
The hippo free-riders seem to enjoy themselves ...
-
We had not any giraffes at the breakfast table, but small monkeys to steal the bread at lunch.
Here one of the small offenders taken with the loot in hand.
Taken with my 300mm +extender on the D500, those 3 have nearly been glued together during this trip, much easier to handle than my 200-500mm.
-
Bent, those eyes. Love this one - I wonder what he/she is thinking?

This is for you to guess ;)

Yesterday we went on a trip to the Drakensberg to see Burke’s luck potholes among other things.
Wanted to show Gunver the potholes as I was there in 1982. Been more tourist minded nowadays.
-
Thanks for sharing Bent, light is bright and hard, typical for ZA ;)
-
This is for you to guess ;)
End of an elephants tail of course - part of the hind leg is showing. :)
Beautiful sunset!
-
Forgot to crop ;)
It is a sunrise ;)

Water is a talented sculptor. Amazing capture!
-
Beautiful. I havd no idea what that hairy thing is 🤔
-
Well back home, only drawback with Southafrica is the long travel time ;)
I also photographed some birds, not all of them I have found a name for, the "Eagle" is unknown to me.
The 300mm f4 PE has been a good investment :)
-
The first one is an African Fish Eagle.
The second one is a Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill.
The third one could be an African Hawk Eagle, I’m not sure about this one.
-
Thanks for input Chris.
I gave it a new spin on google, my new suggestion is Tawny Eagle.
Found this: http://www.thejunglelook.com/info/bird-info/tawny-eagle
-
Yes, that’s the one. :)
-
Thanks for sharing the sights of your safari. Everyone's take is different.

wow. what a strong force water is. Thank you for sharing this!

Excellent series, Bent and Birna - not sure yet which are my favourites but the three zebras crossing the road, and the hippo with birds on its head are high on the list.

Thanks for the kind word, you actually pointed to one of mine and one of Gunvers pictures.
I was my wife Gunver that accompanied my in Southafrica ;)

I got another bird that I can not identify. It worked out fine for the eagle, so my hope this will work fine as well.
