Nothing like what people are experiencing in Texas right now, but today was a wild and stormy day with strong and gusting wind, torrential rain-showers and occasional brief flashes of sunshine. I drove 80km to Glencoe to see an old friend, and back; en route, photographic opportunities were scarce.
1) Falls on the River Coe
2) and 3) looking east from the Glencoe road
4) Cars head south, out of the storm.

The colours this light generates are stunning. I feel I can smell the wet moss in these pictures. Memories of Scotland and Ireland pop up immediately. Thank you, dear friend.
-
Thank you, Frank - always very nice to hear from you.
-
story and pictures are in perfect correlation - as always, or as expected from you :-)
my favs are 2 and 3, let´s say I adore 3
-
Dave, these are very dramatic nicely conveying the stormy weather.
-
Thanks, Thomas and Jakov - I glad you like these.
-
Beautiful images !
i'm surprised at how clear the water looks, when we get a storm the rivers around here get muddy
-
Nice series, Dave !
A countryside that reminds me of fond memories and where I will return...
The brown fens near the falls tells us the autumn is coming soon. ;)
-
Oh Dave, all of them are really nice, but the first one brings back some memories of my holidays (long ago) in Scotland. It screams "Storm!".
-
Very nice series of pictures.
-
Wild weather creates unusual and beautiful scenery. What an irony!
-
Thanks to Armando, Francis, Hans, Tom and Akira - Scotland can be so beautiful, even in stormy weather, it often makes landscape photography quite easy!

The River Coe is quite short and runs the whole way through naked rock - it hardly comes in contact with any kind of soil.

Scotland is indeed beautiful: and it's quickly-changing weather and cloud-patterns, with the sun suddenly bursting through to spotlight just a small area, produces scenes like these which David has immortalised in this beautiful series of photographs.
The low-angle of the sun is an advantage in places at higher latitudes; and extended summer-evenings are another major bonus.
-
Thank you, Ann, for your kind comments; Scotland's weather is exactly as you describe; patience is a prerequisite here.
-
Great series, David. Love the last one, the dramatic sky in the background and cars in the other direction.
-
John - thank you - I like that one too.
-
Mongo very much likes these beautiful and very real images of real earthy places. You have quite captured the essence of the places. Also, your choice of focal length was spot on for each of these
-
Beautiful colour and light, David (as usual), especially in #2. Both #2 and #4 are quite dramatic.
There is nothing like being in the right place at the right moment - and that doesn't just happen!
-
Thanks, Mongo and Mike - much appreciated.
Mike - you know the old recipe for photographic success - "f5.6 and be there" - substitute f9 or 10 and that has been my motto for a very long time. :)
