Thanks for posting these!
We should have a NikonGear 100 years Visit to Japan! To see these exhibitions! ;D
Is there anyone who could organise this,,, direct connections to Nikon?
That is some serious filter wear,,,

Always nice to see a camera well used, and from personal experience, the Nikon F2 Titan really is robust and can take impacts in its stride that would have shattered lesser models. The camera has been field-proven to break ribs .... My ribs.
I thought the earlier Titans to carry a corresponding 'Titan' engraving front left? My F2 Titan is the 92-series that reportedly did not have the label.

Thank you for this information Akiyama-San!
I am looking forward to my visit next week 8)

Enjoy, and please return with images ;)

Akiyama-san, thank you very much for the reminder! I'll visit the museum whenever time allows.

If I remember correctly, the Uemura model was the first F2 with the titanium cover. The earlier "production" F2T was only for the press photographers and thus had no fancy "Titan" engraving. The later models were sold publicly and had the engraving.

If so, the numbering scheme was unlogical. The 78-series is claimed to have the nice curlicue inscription on front, the 92-series didn't. Perhaps the serial number shown here belongs to an earlier series as it might coincide with the F2H?
As I got my F2 Titan second-hand, I have no idea under what restriction(s) it was sold initially.

I guess that the 92-series were reserved for the special use. There have been similar cases, if I remember correctly.

This is an unboxing video of a virtually non-used F2 Titan (92-series without "Titan" engraving commonly callded "No-name Titan" in Japan).

I wonder how many there were of them? My camera has a much lower serial than the one shown on this video.

According to an online source, F2 titan both with and without "Titan" engraving ended up being made about 5000 respectively.
The 92-series carries the serial number like "F2 92XXXXX" whereas 72-series like "F2T 77XXXXX".
-
According to the same source:
The film doors of the earliest titanium F2s was made of steel because at first it was difficult to press the titanium plate to the shape of the film door. About 100 77-series (more specifically 773- and 774-) and 300 92-series F2 titans with the steel film doors were made.
Disclaimer: I'm afraid I haven't found any other sources to confirm the info mentioned in these two posts of mine.

Thank you for the information Akiyama-san.
I sure wish I could be in Japan next week!
There was also an F3T UEMURA SPECIAL.

Excerpt from a documentary about the search for Uemura's body.
I've uploaded it to Facebook. Let me know if you're unable to watch it and I'll also upload it to YouTube.
