Seen during the Christmas holidays on a beach near my parents' town.

apart from the fact that this a phenomenal image, what caught my attention is the fact that you go fishing on the beach during xmas and i suppose it's not down under...

Thanks Jakov :)
Yes, beach, Christmas and not Down Under.
Pretty much winter, but a very mild day, without wind nor waves.
I was just fishing images though. There were hundreds if not thousands of people and dogs strolling and enjoying the afternoon.
The beach is long, beautiful and in a relatively undeveloped state (it is a regional natural park).

Superb image, a lovely sunset enhanced by the poses of the fishermen. Excellent timing.

Absolutely gorgeous reds and oranges
Fantastic image
-
beautiful and worth printing.

Perfect sunset exposure, colors and composition. Very classic ;)

Thank you all, Tristin, Tom, Armando, Elsa and Erik.
Especially Elsa, I also think that print is the ideal destination of any worthy image; if an image is not worth printing it means it does not stand out.

Great shot!

Wonderful shot!
As a matter of interest- did you wait long for the shot?
I'm always intrigued at how people get such awesome pictures. Does one wait and time it? Is it serendipity?
-
Great and wonderful shot! (seriously)
I love silhouettes.

Thank you Jørgen, JJ and Gary.
To answer the question, I had identified the sand spit since getting on the beach and worked my way toward it taking shots as the sun was getting near the horizon.
As the sun got near the horizon I positioned in what looked as a good spot for getting silhouettes in the presence of the sinking sun. I moved a bit around to vary the composition and went along shooting as the people, mainly fishermen (and fisherwomen) moved around fishing. I climbed up and down the beach from the sea level to find a place I liked for placing the heads relative to the horizon.
I had a zoom and experimented different focal lengths to have varying levels of subject isolation.
All the shots I took were single shots, not bursts, trying to anticipate a particular moment, movement or relative position of the fishermen. Overall I took 20-30 shots. A few are ok, this is the pick of the bunch.
