Finally the clouds are gone for a few days, and despite very low solar activity, great auroras appeared last night. A slight tilt in Earth's magnetic field let the solar wind in, setting fire to the colourful lights.
It was a dark moonless night, and with no snow on the ground the landscape is black, making it hard to find a foreground. All I found was the little tree, and I had to wade into the water to get it in the photos. It was extremely humid, the camera was soaking wet, and I had to wipe the front glass every 10 seconds. Nikon D810 with Nikkor 14-24mm, ISO 1600, 8-12 sec.

Wow, astonishing, Bjørn !

Oh how I like your photos Bjørn J!
For years and years you have been treating me with the Aurora Borealis photos. I envy you so much for having such a natural phenomena where you live.

Bjørn, thanks, as always, for sharing the stunning aurora images. #2 is my favorite. Your effort has been very well paid off.

WOW, nuff said

cool shots!

Wow ! Great aurora and great pictures... :-)

Magnificent, and well worth all the waiting you have had. These put my puny Scottish efforts into true perspective!
(There was supposed to be a strong aurora last night but of course it was cloudy here.)

Strange, I am a little sheep that can wonder and be moved by everyday things over and over again. Arctic light photos simply do not move me. Maybe I have to go watch them in person?

Very nice action 😉 with the tree tilted looks a little funny, so I like it straight up, also I like the ground to be in the frame. Lights are best in # 3 and 4
Amazing as always!

It is the first time I get such a sense of flow when watching auroras pictures. The second a third images are especially successful with regard to this. Bravo!

Thanks for the comments.
Frank, you are very welcome to experience the auroras "live". I will take you to the best locations :)

Thank you very much. I am not in travel mode currently but
generally I love the North very much, enjoy Movies from there
especially. I need outdoor housing for my Sinar....

OMG ... OMG ... OMG ... OMG
While I am of the school of "only the final image matters' ... I, and the rest of us photogs here, do appreciate the work involved in the capture.
As to the capture ... all I can say is OMG. (Especially the last image.)

F!!!!!
I have seen quite a few of your excellent aurora shots so far.
This is a new level. Absolutely stunning.
Where did the humidity come from? Spray of the water or what?
cheers

Thank you Andreas!
No water spray. Clear sky and temperature around 7-8 Celsius somehow caused extreme condensation on the camera and lens, but not so much on my clothes. Could be because I was close to (and in) the water, in a partly boggy area.

Stunning set Bjørn! The last one is my favorite, in part because of the stronger violet color.
