The 24 has an outstanding geometrical correction I have not seen in any other Wide Angle Nikkor so far AND it features a very high color fidelity over a huge range of lighting situation and complicated colors like purple, orange and certain greentones, all at the edge of the gamut ability of most recording media. Yet that is a very subjective evaluation mostly based on my extensive use with the D3, D500 and the D850 indoors and outdoors. The D600 is no reference point, because it has color gamut issues of its own.
The D850 is still my reference point in color fidelity when it comes to recording media. I am evaluating the Z9 now and will see if she matches the D850 in this respect ...

Yes I agree with the special qualities of the 24/1.4G Geometry, colours and off course it's beautiful rendering and bokeh which looks like the 58G. Also the close focus of 25cm is a pré.

Now that you mention it, I see that the photo was taken from the floor looking up. Didn't realize this at first glance but now it is obvious. Definitely the point of view dramatically improves the photo. Great planning for a dramatic composition. I am in awe at what good planning, composition and execution can accomplish.

It looks very much like something we would see if there was a pinprick-hole in the bellows of a folding film-camera so could there be a hole in the shell of the imaging chamber in your camera?
However, I have never seen anything like that in a digital camera.

Thank you. The story here is one of a long term friendship, love and respect. They are both professionals that worked together for years and now only se each other briefly, such is life. Their energy and good humor is contagious :D

Hi Birna, in a book I have about the flora of the Maria region, it appears as: Erodium malacoides. Here it's popularly called: (PINS) ALFILERES. They are very delicate plants and the flowers are small, like tiny stars.

Very nice, Bent! I'm still learning to handle my Z100-400 + Z7 combo. It's a great lens, but a shot like yours would probably be a bit of a challenge with my skills and the AF in the Z7. However, works well for birds resting .. like this shot from yesterday of a kestrel looking out of a nest box where they have chicks. Shot @300mm f5.6.

Yes the AF system is better on the Z8, but you have nailed the focus on the bird, in spite of all the branches between you and the bird.
