Thanks Colin, they are very small spiders, difficult to see, and when you approach the flowers and look at them closely, they are there waiting for their prey. They are shy; I tell them not to move, but sometimes they don't listen to me.

Yes Bent, It does! Very capable little thing, it took the center stage without a flinch as the big brother was in video duty. It has some limitations, of course, but I had fun using it and the dancers like the results.
Thanks!

It's getting milder with ambient temperatures hovering around the freezing point. Meaning the 'slush' of remaining wet snow can become dangerously slippery to walk on. My new Finnish winter boots help, though. If the issues escalate, putting on cleats is the only viably option.

Location: A modern art exhibition dealing with the theme "The future of human connection through technology." There are interactive exhibits, strange noises, and free but mediocre wine. The Actors:
- Clara (ENFJ-A): She is here because she knows the artist and wants to support them. She has already introduced three people to one another and ensures no one feels left out. She is elegantly dressed, radiates warmth, and has very deliberate body language.
- Felix (ENTP-A): He crashed the party randomly because the poster outside provoked him. He is wearing a jacket that is a bit too loud, has an inquisitive grin on his face, and has already played with two exhibits that really shouldn't be touched
The Encounter
Clara observes Felix standing in front of an installation made of a pile of old smartphones that are flashing and buzzing chaotically. Most people walk past it confusedly. Felix, however, stares at it intensely and then taps against one of the phones, causing the entire sculpture to wobble threateningly.
Clara: (Steps next to him confidently, but with a warm smile) "Brave. I think the curator just had a minor heart attack when you touched that."
Felix: (Turns to her immediately, eyes shining with energy) "Oh please. Art you can't touch is just decoration. Besides: Did you see that the flashing frequency of the phones resembles Morse code? I'm currently trying to figure out if it's a cry for help or the recipe for vegan brownies."
Clara: (Laughs heartily, not just politely. She immediately recognizes the playful intellect.) "Vegan brownies would certainly be a bigger hit here than a cry for help. But seriously: I think the artist wanted to depict the cacophony of our constant accessibility. How we all transmit, but no one really receives. It's about loneliness within the noise."
Felix: (Raises an eyebrow, visibly pleased that she isn't just making small talk) "Okay, that's the classic 'profound' interpretation. Fair enough. But isn't that a bit... lazy? 'Technology makes us lonely' – we've been hearing that since the invention of the radio. What if it's the opposite? What if this chaos here is the birth of a new global consciousness and we are just too primitive to understand it?"
Clara: (Turns fully towards him, accepting the challenge. Her posture is open but firm.) "That is a fascinating thought. But aren't you overlooking the human factor in that? A global consciousness is useless if the individual feels empty within it. Progress without empathy is cold mechanics. Don't you think we first need to learn to communicate better before we communicate more?"
Felix: (Grins broader. He loves it when someone pushes back, especially with such conviction.) "Touché. You prioritize the emotional foundation, I prioritize the systemic possibility. But – and play along for a moment here – what if empathy itself is just an outdated algorithm that we will soon replace with something more efficient?"
Felix throws this provocative thesis out into the room just to see what happens. An insecure person might be offended now. Clara (ENFJ-A), however, is fascinated by his mental agility, even if she fundamentally disagrees with his thesis.
Clara: (Her eyes narrow slightly, but the smile remains. She radiates an intense, focused energy.) "You don't really believe that. You're just saying it to test the boundaries of the conversation. Efficiency can never replace warmth. Without emotional resonance – like what we are doing right here, this little spark in the conversation – everything would be meaningless. And I bet that exact spark is the reason you approach people in exhibitions at all."
Felix: (Pauses for a second. He's been seen through. Then he laughs out loud.) "Okay, wow. You're good. You analyzed me while I was still trying to deconstruct the art. One-nil to you."
Clara: "I don't analyze. I connect." (She offers him her hand, a clear, secure gesture.) "I'm Clara."
Felix: (Shakes her hand energetically) "Felix. And I must say, Clara, you are by far the most interesting exhibit in here."
Clara: "I'll accept the compliment, even if technically it isn't one. Come on, let's go over to that abstract painting there. I want to hear how you try to explain it rationally, and then I'll tell you what it really means."
Felix: "Deal. But only if we try this terrible wine afterwards and debate whether bad wine builds character."

Frank thats interesting, and confusing!
I abused a "deep thinking" picture program for story telling and after that let it render a picture from its own story that looks like a photo ... stock photo style with a tad of realism dirt.
Then I thought: Wow. Now I understand Michael Erlewine and his "Mid-Journey"!

My 2 cent on that: LLM are tools to evaluate, summarize and paraphrase our current knowledge as far as it is accesible to them, such as hammers are tools to crush or fixate ... tools ... not lies .... As soon as electronic sensing and deduction processes become embodied and start to collect their own "life experience" they will start to become our peers and we will have another form of very different self aware consciousness. The problem I see here is that the current commercial applications for these are: War, Sex, Shopping, Waste collection ... Imagine your own development was based on these fields of experience only ... Love. Frank.

John, I am appreciative of but quite curious about your recent images as posted on NG and taken with older DSLRs.
Can I assume that you are using modern raw file processing on NEF files to get the best out of the image files or that you have spent time and effort in calibrating the colour profiles etc for each camera? I pose the question, as you seem to be getting superior colours from your images to what my memory recalls these cameras as delivering in their hay days. Either way, well done.

Yes I have stored camera's profiles for each camera in Adobe Camera Raw, so ACR will take an unique profile for each camera (and not the standard one).
Firstly, I only shoot in RAW.
Secondly with regard to the older camera's. The quality of the RAW's is better. More flexible and they also contain more colours than new Camera's. (later than D800e and D700)
Thirdly: The shooting is limited because of a limited viewfinder and back-screen, quality can only be judged after upload to a PC.

Keeping the batteries alive is a challenge for instance for the Nikon D1x (different battery system). The older Fuji S2 and S3 work with rechargable AA-batteries.

Belonging to a minority, the "Season's festivities" isn't my cup of tea as it were, but the Amaryllis flowers Ruth cultivates for the occasion are nice targets for the "X-Ray" kind of lenses. They may not be the sharpest lenses in the cupboard, but make up for this with other pecularities. So I can do studies in unsharpness and dream-like bokeh while she decorates the apartment.

This year it fell on me to make the traditional Season's Red Herring Salad. Pickled herring, red beets, red opinions, apples, pickled cucumbers, potatoes, and thick sour cream; all topped with slices of hard-boiled eggs and parsley. It is actually a real delicacy.

Delicious, i had "similar" in Denmark! (Sild med fløde))

Yes. 'Seterrømme' => the thickest sour cream you can get here. One shouldn't pinch on the calories for this dish :)

Thanks ARTUROARTISTA, Aninbald, Ann, Paco and John. It is always a joy when such chances present itself in a brief moment - in this case the only passerby during the hike. I posted a couple of more in the Trees thread: https://nikongear.net/revival/index.php?topic=10439.msg214097#msg214097 (https://nikongear.net/revival/index.php?topic=10439.msg214097#msg214097)

My hike last night had another lucky encounter, this time not so brief. The roe deer are usually quite skittish, but the beam of my light might have worked as camouflage allowing me to be very close, and they did not seem to mind the beam much as long as it did not move too much. So to my joy I could just stand still and even slowly move forward taking in the moment of the roe deer grazing peacefully as they very slowly moved on. (Breaking the rule just to show how the moment developed, Z5II and 40mm lens.)
I even got time to record a short video clip https://youtu.be/OBmtCIsXsLs (https://youtu.be/OBmtCIsXsLs).

I'm really intrigued by the concert. Thank you for sharing. The reaction seems to be fairly typical for such an experimental music.

Academic Music can be a challenge to untrained ears. As I know we both love Olivier Messiaen, I know your ears are well trained in Music denominated as "modern" and "contemporary" and "new" ... the electronics guy has studied here: https://ifnm.hfmt-koeln.de/institut/studio-fuer-elektronische-musik/ (https://ifnm.hfmt-koeln.de/institut/studio-fuer-elektronische-musik/) the recorder and accordeon players met in their studies here: https://www.wuppertal.de/kultur-bildung/hochschulen/musikhochschule/index.php (https://www.wuppertal.de/kultur-bildung/hochschulen/musikhochschule/index.php)
They founded their duo "Windspiel" 25 years ago: https://windspiel-neuemusik.jimdofree.com (https://windspiel-neuemusik.jimdofree.com/Benjamins)
Benjamins Homepage is here (interesting videos there): https://graumusic.de/ (https://graumusic.de/)
