Mirrorless Nikon on the horizon (finally)?

The point is that "currently developing" doesn't necessarily means that the cameras will hit the market.  That might be a message for the shareholders.

Akira,  I would need to go back and search my Bookmarks on other sites (and emails) but some reliable Intel was showing Nikon really working on a better Mirrorless some years back.  I think one of the problems they are having is that the technology is just moving so fast so they may be having to rethink almost constantly.  From what is being said now, they could be trying to get ahead of the curve.  The real question, reading between the lines, is this directed for the new generation of Professional Photographers who use everything from GoPro to Smartphones, to Sony/Fuji/m43, to Canon/ Nikon/Pentax, or to those who shoot for High End Glossy Covers and print large (and those of us who just enjoy Photography as we know it) ? Social Media is having huge impact on photography.
I've not had a publisher ask for High Def image, for a Glossy Mag, for over two years.  Newspaper requirements are not very high ( and they do not pay much   :( )  " I normally just give them images of things I'm interested in.  Easier than doing paperwork to get paid a pittance  ;) .  I still sell to some NGO's (mostly Environmental) and at least they pay a bit better.

I would guess at something sooner than later .

The article is in line with earlier reports stating that Nikon is planning to jump onto the mirrorless bandwagon when the technology is on par with their DSLR offerings, with the Sony a9 out there working properly I would guess that time is now :)

I would be stoked to buy a Nikon FX mirrorless when it is on par with the current Sony offerings, most of my lenses should be easily adapted to the new mount although I wish they would use the Sony FE mount (one can always dream).
Cheers,
Jan Anne

AF-P and the electronic iris. these are the core technologies for the new mount  :o :o :o
of course, an adapter for the F-mount is designed along with the new camera. ::)

I can figure a new alternative scenario to complement my "When my Df dies, I will..." fantasy.

I'm not really shocked with this statement. Everyone is busy with it. Nikon has already shown with the Nikon 1 and recently with the DL (even though it has been canceled) they can come up with something special. I would be much more concerned if they weren't. :D

I hope they finally make a good one, combining all the goods a SONY A7xx
and some other cameras have, built into a sturdy body with Nikon quality
written all over it. Now THAT would be a buy for me... :-)
