Perast, Bay of Kotor, Montenegro
« on: December 09, 2015, 15:12:04 »
Perast is a true gem that I recommend to all those who are visiting Montenegro.
Here are a few shots of Perast including the hotel/restaurant Per Astra where the crew had lunch that I also recommend.

Bay of Kotor offers a variety of photographic opportunities. Here are some of mine to supplement Jakov's images.

It could be that the same clothes are hung up for drying when you visit :D

More than likely - you were adjacent to me at the time of shooting :D

No, no, no, you were adjacent to me at the time of shooting.  ;D
Besides, I only used the humble 45P for this shot :)

I must have more shots of Perast that I have accumulated over the years (when we weren't adjacent to each other)... I'll post them as soon as I find them.

I found one from 2010. The main square of Perast.

A UV overview of the Bay. Shot hand-held for a change so this is a country where you easily get burnt by the sun .... The winding roads are superb if you are into rally or just like such driving challenges.

There are two small islands one natural and one build on a foundation of old ship wrecks. Heat waves makes the air turbulent and getting sharp images of the islands is a bit tricky. Guess one has to be much closer than this capture taken from one of the hills overlooking the Bay.

Looks like a very interesting place with dynamic variations of landscapes.

Jakov, some images look a bit hazy.  It that because of the humidity, or simply because of the strong backlight?

Bjørn, I like the fisheye (or 10/2.8 with the converter?) image of the close up of a flower.  Is that Hibiscus species?  We have some of similar kind here in Japan, but this one looks a bit different.

Then, which focal lengths did you need to make these long shot of these two islands?  There's no exif data in neither of your images.

Akira it was very hot and humid, and we didn't stick around for long.
We just drove through and stopped for lunch.
So yes, from a distance it was difficult to get things sharp.
Here is an example of the island taken with AF-D 85 mm f/1.4.

The other one is infrared, a true infrared this time, not my dull semi-IR of late :)

Akira: the flower is Alcea rosea in the Malvaceae (same family as for Hibiscus). The lens is 1 Nikkor 6.7-13 mm f/3.5-5.6, a wide-angle zoom lens I probably should use more on my 1 Nikons.

The islands were taken with the 200/2 AS Nikkor plus TC20E mk.3.

It's amazing how I am coming across these old IR images that I once didn't really like but now I do :)
Those were the good old days when I was shooting blind  8)
D70 + 28/3.5 K + 720 Hoya (if my memory serves me correctly).
