Monolith

<< < (2/2)

Bruno Schroder:
… and to be more explicit: a masterpiece of composition: the placement of the blue sky and the ray of light only on the right side of the stone and the timing to get them orthogonal to the stone, … the turmoil in the clouds on the left side and on top, the stone angle and relative proportion to the hill …

All that suggesting the monolith is projecting light and calm to the hill.

I wish I would be able to even think I should think about this  :)

Bent Hjarbo:
I am actually trying to plan a trip for my photo club.
May PM you for advice.
Yes Scotland is worth returning to.
And of course a very nice picture  ;)

David Paterson:
Thank you all for your kind comments, Peter, Bruno, Akira and Bent.

I have been trying for a long time to get a decent image of the stone and it's situation, and for the first time, last weekend, the sky was good, the time of day was good and the sun was making occasional splashes of light and colour. Without that strip of sun on the hillside, there is no shot here.

Bruno - I don't know about masterpieces, but this shot did require some planning and careful composition to get a decent result.

Bent - I will be happy to help in any was I can.
