Very nice images Michael. These are short stacks taken with the 100/2.8, right? The threads discussion concerned the Repro Nikkor 85/1.0.

This thread is on the Repro Nikkor 100mm.

This thread is on the Repro Nikkor 100mm.

Indeed, this thread is on the Repro Nikkor 100. The tangential discussion about the literal threads on Toby's adapter was about the Repro Nikkor 85. Your earlier comment

The threads are not a problem. I bought the lens and it works well.  Easy to fit the D850 or Z7. Here are a couple of images with that lens.

indicated that you were probably referring to the 100mm when Toby, Klaus and I were talking about the 85mm.

Anyway, it is obvious that both lenses are capable of capturing stunning images and that the 100 is easier to mount than the 85.

Do you get a special quality using this lens that is not possible with one of the Micro Nikkor 105/2.8 lenses?    …..think there are at least 3 different versions (AIS, AFD, AFS).
If you have one of them it could be interesting to see how they differs?     bokeh quality, sharpness etc...
Maybe it is not possible to focus that close with one of the Micro's…..or maybe quality declines a lot if you use extender or bellows…..

I would say that it is better corrected, more able to be used for reproduction of film, etc. than the 105s.

Yes, at the expense of being not able to cover a larger focusing range, and presumably, more picky about the actual light quality than any usual Micro-Nikkor. There is no free lunch.

I've used 105/2.8 Micro, a pristine sample with the last SIC coating.  It was a bit prone to flare and the contrast was low.  I was not very impressed.

Another such Repro Nikkor 2.8/100mm sold in Germany, 2nd one I ever saw.
My friend Akiyama-San ("Redbook")  told me that those are very rare and sent
me some data sheets...

There is NOS COM-Nikkor 37/1.4 at the moment for sale (from Sweden). About 13k Euro but he is open for an offer.
The English writing indicates that the text is copied from "Redbook". This lens is also optimized for close focus as it was used to take ray traces from oscilloscopes.

There is also a Repro-Nikkor 85/1 for sale at 2.5k Euro from Prag (CZ) and he is also open for an offer. This one has a bit more realistic prize compared to the COM-Nikkor.
