Orange Feet
« on: January 24, 2018, 14:13:20 »
This mallard hen was landing at the local bird sanctuary last weekend.  Shooting with snow on the ground/ice is always one of the best times of the year to get nice even lighting. Talk about a giant fill reflector!

D500 Sigma 150-600 Sport  f/7.1 1/1250s, ISO 800.  Hand held

Advice and comments always appreciated.

Thanks

Randy

Nicely done. Nice head angle, good catch light in the eye and the wing position. Good job holding the highlights also. I love how these birds just drop right in. I haven't made it out to KBS in a few years. Must go back.

A most realistic image of a Mallard coming in to land.

We certainly see plenty of Mallards in my part of the world, so this image is more personal for me than for those species that we don't see down here.

The fill light effect of the ice/snow we don't get - our light can often be quite harsh except for the winter months when it can be very dull.
