Operating the 4x4 maybe a bit difficult while inside the protective bags :)

I know it proves nothing, but the D100 and D7000 that has accompanied the D750 on every trip, and did several before the purchase of the D750 are both still fine.

The camera is know int he hands of the Nikon service center, and I will hopefully receive a report within the week.

Update:

Nikon's official position is that I have worn my shutter out. No damage due to vibration or trauma.

After I complained a bit about how a shutter rated for 150 000 actuations is now worn out at nearly a third of that, the repair cost (which also includes a new lens mount) is probably very reasonable at about $330US. What is less reasonable is that it will take at least a month...
