That's great, I wonder who did it? We have an "Ike's fly through diner" in this neck of the woods and it's been renovated at least once. I hope this one gets reworked after it's been weathered a couple of years!

Thank you Chuck, I will have to ask my wife's sister and her husband who gave the birdhouse to us as a house warming gift.

Great shot, Bill !

Thank you John.

Bill, this is nice.  Sensitive and nice composition including the blurred flowers on the left.

Thank you Akira.

I have to admit that there was quite a bit of luck in catching the Chickadee in the opening of the bird house.  They are very quick and if I blinked I would have missed it.

Thank you to Akira, John, and Bjørn.

That shot was quite fortuitous.  I was eating dinner and remembered I hadn't used this lens yet other than taking a few test shots, yet I'd mentioned owning it on another thread.  I resolved to head out after dinner, quickly, to catch the last rays of the sun.  The sun was getting very low and somewhat dim due to haze as I tried thistles and other flowers without being satisfied.  I hurried along and had little hope of finding something new and interesting in what little light was left.  Then I happened to notice a wild oat stalk, oriented just right to show off its beauty where I could see it.  The soft lighting was wonderful, and I  slightly reduced the natural warm effect to get the color balance I liked the most.

I went out this morning with the same lens, one which seems to make closeups so easy and rewarding.  Again, many failures but a few successes...

Some birds on the bay at sunrise

This one particularly impressed me.  The lighting is wonderful, with warm tones selectively overlain on a foundation of cool tones.  Marvelous effect!

Thanks Bill. When the Bay is calm like that and reflects the sky it makes everything seem to float against a pastel background.

You started it, Bill. I went for a little walk on a rainy day to check how Ike's was doing, in a local City trail. Plenty of feeders but Ike's was gone...but the first time I saw it was it was April 2011 so I'll cheat and put it at the bottom. Yes, #8 is nicer than my apartment and Ike's is supposed to be where Kirkland Nuts is. Maybe it's out for renovation. Again.

(and after a few edits I'm still fighting image size, at least the software doesn't know one picture is 6 years late)

The charm of the 35mm f/1.4ais wide open is its character dont change anything.

A wire taken against and overcast sky is a double line: half black, half purple. That is too much for me. I a field of grass no trouble, not correction.
