Rokinon 85mm f1.4 portrait.

Rokinon 85mm f1.4 D700 portrait, anybody using one?

I bought this a few months ago it has the chip (thank goodness).
I took this on a quick "Stop right there"!! caught him at the right moment bringing my Green Chili Cheeseburger with a smile.
I had it stopped down to f2.8 maybe f4 and had to pull my head back slightly to get the focus I was trying to get.
The DOF on this lens is unforgiving even at f4.

Cool lens even picked up some detail of the screen on the windows behind, even the fuzzy little hairs on his right ear lobe show detail..

I bought one. Loved it. It did exactly what I wanted, and since I couldn't afford a Nikon 85mm f/1.4 wasn't in the cards.

Notice the past tense? 13 months after I bought it, just past warranty expiration, the aperture began sticking open. Unless I intended to shoot at f/1.4, everything was overexposed.

I don't use it anymore. Since it's now worthless, I'm going to disassemble it and see if I can fix the problem.

Pete, nice image.  :)

I haven't touched Samyangs due to them reportedly not being service-friendly.  Some of their lenses seem worth the price optically, but I worry of investing in disposable gear.  Which a lens is without being serviceable.

Arninetyes, when/if you attempt servicing the lens, please let us know how it went.

So far Tristin it's been a lucky lens.
I have this thing in my bag 90% bouncing around on my Duel Sport Yamaha and has never had an issue.
I admit I don't use it as much as I would like.
The Chip is a great piece on this lens for the price cheaper than a kit lens it's worth the plunge IMHO.
I have the 14mm no chip does not need one with the wide field depth, it is an unusual lens not fish eye and sharp stopped down but demands special applications for use.
Pulls foreground to subject well just need to watch the straight lines but is on the most part well behaved.

Peter ..I have the 14mm Samyang  and it has a chip . I just tape it at 10 ft focus and usually use F5.6.  Brilliant sharp  and I have no complaints
