But Richard, it is such a butt-ugly lens.  I had one and quickly saved up for the much more sexy Nikkor 180mm.

OK, now i am forced to get a junk original version with the chrome barrel so that i can take a picture of it beside a coke bottle  :o :o :o

Thanks Rick for the excellent write-up.  I am having problem with silver nose 200mm f/4 Q's filter ring, so tight, unable to remove that.  Some dirt and fungus there so have to somehow deal with that.

Haven't gone into the helicoids of the silver nose and the black nose 200mm f/4 Q nor the 135/2.8 Q.

Some day...

It was tough for me but patience and alcohol did the trick. Be careful not to scratch anything :o :o :o

I did not write up my 200Q black nose clean-up, no sense duplicating (and partially since I haven't gone into the helicoid) your excellent write-up.
