Dave, I have Photoshop 6, the last copy you could actually buy and own, and may go that route. You're right, the tif route should be workable if Iridient doesn't provide a "one stop shopping" solution which is what I yearn for!

Andrea, yes, CNX2 was working until a month ago on Sierra when I pulled my stunt with the uninstall. After that, it was only a memory. As I told Dave above, some form of tif transformation should work. As for the 810, awesome is the perfect description. I was stunned when I saw the clarity of live view - wowee zowee! And the shutter sound is so pleasing to hear. Plus a lot of other good stuff...

Thanks you both for your suggestions, they are good and much appreciated. I now see a path to a solution. It helps to talk about it, that's a 100% certainty.

Cheers,

Tom

There is a way to move a program like CNX2 from say Yosemite to Sierra or one MAC to another. The video at the link below explains it better than I can.

If you have a Yosemite install app you could install Yosemite on a thumb drive and then install Capture NX2 on Yosemite. Then you'd move CNX2 from Yosemite to Sierra. I hope this makes sense.

I found this link on my iMAC. I was looking into this a while back. I never tried it. Here is the link...

How Can I Move an Individual Application and Its Settings to Another Mac?

...you might give it a read and if it sounds promising try the process. There is a video also. :)

My only critique is the composition.  The foreground stick running the vertical length of the shot is a rusty knife in my eyes.  A step to the right may have fixed it, but then again we all know how patiently wild animals model for us.   :P

I have no issue with the PP, looks natural to me.

I found that the straight out of camera, un-worked on version had value also.  The blue shadows, while maybe a bit too blue, gave it a late autumn/winter feel that didn't exist in the refined version.

Dave, I looked at the website you cited. I basically did that when I took the program out initially and found that once uninstalled, there was no way to reinstall it. Very irritating.

Tristin, You're right about the rusty knife (at least it wasn't in front of the bird which is never good). Normally when taking pictures of birds, I take a lot of them and hope there is one that has a flawless composition. It is what is both frustrating and fun about the exercise. In this case, my reason for posting was post-production questions. Still I like the shot because these birds can be fidgity when they sense an alien presence and therefore choose to hide among the branches and bushes. This makes sense as some raptors might find Mourning Doves slow off the mark (as they are) and when caught make for a sumptuous meal!

Keith, I agree with you but it was when playing around for the fun of it, I realized my concerns, which no one here seems to agree with!

You don't reinstall it. You gab it out of the trash and copy it to the new computer or if dual booting from a different HD or partition. To install CNX2 you'll need a HD or Partition with Yosemite. You could install Yosemite on a 64GB thumb drive. If USB2 it will be slow but it will work. Then you'd boot your MAC on the thumb drive with Yosemite.

You can't install CNX2 into El Capitan or Sierra. Everything I read says CNX2 runs fine on both. Just the install program is broken. I have not tried this with my iMAC as I don't have a copy of Yosemite to install on a thumb drive.

What I would like to do is sharpen the fine detail separate from the course detail. I'd give the fine detail a very small radius sharpening like PS Smart Sharp with a 0.3 radius. I would not sharpen the blurred areas as all. I'd leave the color and contrast as in the first post. It looks natural to me. For me unless an image is headed for FaceBook or similar I like the post processing to be under stated so once I saw the photo on a decent monitor I like the original but for the sharpening.

Dave

My first post may have been from a cell phone. The LCH and whatever is something to keep in mind but not for this image at least by my taste.
