The Mighty Muskegon River
« on: October 16, 2016, 09:03:26 »
Nikon D810, Zeiss Otus 28mm APO f/1.4

The great Muskegon River as it flows through my town of Big Rapids, Michigan, located on the edge of 900,000 acres of national forest.

Pleasing scene, Michael, with beautiful colours on the right hand sky section.

A bit of a halo on the left hand sky/tree section. Seems you either pulled the shadows hard, or pushed the sky back hard. Or, did you perhaps HDR stack this  ::)

True. I am just learning landscape photography. Here is another taken the same morning with the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 lens.

I don't know if it's due to the lens or the post-processing, but the first picture (Otus) looks much crisper Thant the second one 👍

Well, yeah. It is the difference between a Zeiss Otus (one of the best F=Mount lenses in the world) and the Nikon 14-24mm lens, still one of the better lenses for this mount.

Indeed a big difference in crispness!

Were the exposure settings and general post processing the same?

First rule of lens comparisons is to have compatible angle of view for each lens. This is *not* the case here and the accompanying change in scene brightness and contrast mask any difference between the lenses used.
