Manual lens infinity stop - what is the factory spec?

Thank you for the thoughts and help. Well sliding the rubber focus grip back revealed plain sticking tape. I removed it and trying three of my cameras set up the correct focus. Now it is much better. I would never have guessed that the purpose of the tape was to lock focus!

The 135mm f/2.8 Ai-s I have is a little off too but not enough to be concerned about.

the 135mm f/2.8 Ai-S is similar to the K in the picture. it requires some disassembly. so be careful
