The salient point is that any lens is a compromise between conflicting considerations.

The better question is whether the prospective buyers have their requirements answered by a given lens and its supported features.

With the introduction of the IF technology, Nikon solved some problems and added others.

nothing but turtles to shoot today at the park :o :o :o

this lens is pretty sharp wide open (this pic is at 5.6) but i find that i am getting blurred shots due to the lack of a monopod. I will use a monopod next time ::)

as expected from lenses of the same era, the coatings aren't doing a great job suppressing highlight bloom. but the results are still pretty acceptable :o :o :o

both were shot with the D7200 (i use DX to test telephotos) so the results should be better on FX where it's more forgiving.
