Northern gannets

Last year I travelled to the coastal cliffs of Yorkshire to photograph the breeding Northern gannets.  Here's a selection of my images.

Adrian, I love the first two images.

In the third image, the left hand bird seems to be covered in some substance - it is jelly or something similar?

Hugh, I'm sure it is just the water rolling off of the bird.  Many birds feathers are so water repellent that water rolls off of them so cleanly as to look like a jelly.

It's just seawater rolling over the bird.

... and some nice bubbles bursting in the background - from where the gannet struck the water when diving at high speed?
