My dealer asked me if I wanted (and to keep) an AF-unfunctional lens. I said yes of course, but now I am torn between giving it back so my dealer can sell it off or to keep it myself...

If you aren't going to use it much, I'd give it back to the seller and strengthen your rapport with him.  A better relationship with your dealer will likely pay off more than a rarely used lens.
