The gnarled trunks of these trees add significantly to the overall impact. The last one in particular is excellent in that respect.

I have the same lens somewhere, probably ready with CPU etc., but haven't used it for a while as I much prefer the latest 50/1.4 AIS when I deviate from the f/1.2 50 and Noct. Perhaps time to rummage through the cupboards again?

This is the older version  without 'Multicoating'  (Serial number 635xxx range) . What can be the 'result' of that coating?

Awesome pictures in this thread. The tree trunk is otherworldly and I agree with Chip, the close focused vase aided by the ring is my favorite too.

Fons, no matter what lens you use, you often come up with very original ideas. That last series is a good example of that.

I love the vase pictures, and am very curious how you managed to change the size of the blur circles in each shot. Surely if you has stopped down using the aperture ring, the blurs would have become 7-sided polygons reflecting the shape of the aperture opening, yet the remain as circles. However you did it, it's a lovely effect.

Just like with the flower bouquet in your previous thread, you have a great sense of use and placement of the OOF. I like the last vase a lot.

The third vase picture nicely harmonizes the outside patterns with the inside blurred highlights.
The 50/1.4 SC may be "inferior" to the 50/1.4 AIS as an all-purpose lens. In particular, its sharpness is much less even, and the bokeh can easily become "crazy". But for all sorts of creative effects (as exemplified above) and also for portraits, it is among my favourites.

i think the K1 ring has been instrumental in creating the bubbly bokeh, definitely something to reproduce

i think it is Vilhelm Sjostrom on mflenses that rates the 50mm f/1.4 ais high for its dimensional qualities
