Of course hardly anything beats a real telescope if one want to study the surface of the moon. Here a repost from the old forum, captured by aligning my 55mm f/3.5 micro to the eyepiece of a telescope during an astronomy party, on a rather wobbly tripod arrangement that I had to keep readjusting. I kept the inverted image projected through the telescope.

Hard to beat a telescope, yes. However, your AW! images are pretty sharp too. Keep in mind that the Moon moved about 12.5 m during your 1/80 s exposure  :) (Guess the resolution is of magnitude km rather than meters.)

Thanks for further comments and contributions.
Don't let this thread be limited to images of the face of the moon. For instance landscape images where the moon is a predominant element is of course also lunar images, if not in the astronomical sense. A couple of examples that was previously posted inn the old forum:

The slightly past full moon showed through a light cloud cover tonight and I could not resist. ;D

Two moons, actually it the same moon ;) over the sea

The first over the Greenland sea. This one could also be in the minimalist images thread.

The second from King Oscard Fjord at north-east Greenland.

Very nice, Asle. I really like the color tones over the Greenland Sea.

Thanks for the kind comment, Peter.

The forum will never have a LIKE button. However, feel entirely free to describe in detail to the audience the reasons we should like a given photo.
