It's probably lichen, but I'm no expert on the subject. I was actually interested in those delicate, round yellow shapes and looked for a background where they would stand out.

Tedious museum work these days - I have to make pollen slides from nearly every herbarium sheet in order to make a species determination. After some hours of making the slides, then examining them, my head spins. Time to call it a day and head for home.

After snapping this picture off my work desk, I realised the photo could be posted under the 'RGB' theme as well :)

Primary colours are used to show dominance, culturally, politically, in religion etc. there are many examples for that.

The photo shows a lichen. Several genera can appear like this, so ID is left unresolved. The round 'cups' are the apothecia, where eventually spores are released.
