Dragonfly - Zf & Z 105mm MC

Great shots of the frog and dragonfly, Daniel! - I've been tempted to buy the Z 105 mc due to the current Nikon instant savings offer. Now I'm even more tempted  :)
Are your images cropped or did you manage to get very close?

Lars the Z 105 is a very good lens. And with the rebate right now “cheap” ;)

Many thanks, Bent - you're not making it easier to resist the temptation  ;D

I've tried the 105 several times (a friend of mine have it) and the image quality is impressive, but it's not a fast lens to focus on my Z7. I don't do macro - more close-up like Daniels shots. I'm hesitating because I'm also considering the Z 100-400 - my understanding is that it can do fairly good close-up (quote Photographylife.com: For many photographers, the 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S will negate the need for a dedicated macro lens.). Not the image quality as the 105, but the 100-400 would be a very versatile lens for me for especially nature/landscapes (..and much else).

I just posted an example of what even the 24-70/4 can do at close range. So don't worry about the 100-400's image quality.

Thanks for making it easier for me, Ian  ;D
The snake or the crunched toad? I have the Z 24-70/4 and I agree it's definitely very good for close-up as well - plants (and dead things) don't escape, so the 100-400 will give me a better chance to capture subjects that can, before they do. Good point about the comparable image quality.

Many thanks Lars, both images are cropped but not heavily. I truly like the 105mm MC. But I don't want to put a dent in your wallet.

Thank you Daniel, Artur and Akira

Daniel, you had the patience and maybe some fortune to get a nice alignment of your Dragon.
So many of my attempts have a small fragment in focus
(Is it one of the Chaser types?)
Thanks Colin, I was lucky that this dragonfly wasn't too nervous. I don't know the type tough...

Excellent use of the 10.5 mm, makes me want to shave my copy of the lens!  There would of course be some issues with using it on the Z8 - requires taped contacts or a manual adapter to work in FX mode plus blockage of mechanical link so that it does not stop all the way down. I wonder if there are any electrical third party adapters out there that can prevent it from being detected as a DX lens?
